Hello, my name is Alissa Kurke and I am a senior at Minnesota State Mankato. I am majoring in Social Studies with an emphasis in History. History is my passion so I figured I may as well turn it into my profession! I am also a member of the Mankato Cross Country and Track teams. Racing is my second great passion in life and I am hoping I can incorporate track into my professional life as well.

I grew up in Anoka Minnesota, the Halloween capital of the world! I come from a large and loud Irish family which means there is never a dull moment. I give my Grandfather full credit for my interest in teaching social studies. He too has a passion for history and is an extremely political person. Every family get together includes heated arguments between the two of us, in fact arguing with each other is probably our favorite past time. He makes me think outside my comfort zone and look at things from different angles, he always has. I hope to bring that same quality to my teaching.
